Where’d You Go, Bernadette: Want to Read Currently Reading Read. The Times Euper book overflowing with creative talent on just about every page. On his 25th birthday, the unnamed narrator of this Norwegian novel loses a game of croquet and his sense of the meaning of life, quits college and devotes himself to some serious moping.
The narration is also deceptively simple.
I errlend love Loe’s style, his weird, but extremely relatable characters, his sense for little things and his lists. The guy ole also obsessed with this scientist who writes about space and bangs on about space trivia, so maybe it was trying for a pseudo-philosophical angle, but it completely failed. Because he’s confused, and wants to think things through at the most elemental level.
I was blown away, and could not put it down until I finished in the wee hours of the morning. I should never have stopped running. Fascination is not the same as curiosity or sympathy, and his protagonists here are largely a series of chilly fuck-ups looking at the world with indifferent eyes.

Complexities and transparencies

This is a simple novel. The narrator of this funny and poignant novel is searching for meaning, going back to his childhood, onto the web and off to New York to find it. Almost like a quarter-life crisis.

One person found this helpful. These devices occasionally read as attempts to pique his own interest, let alone ours, and despite his nods to “Lady with a Dog”, he can’t match the Chekhovian wit and pang.
Is this feature helpful? Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1. It’s a simple book on the surface, but for me it’s a way to climb out of a hole whenever existing gets to be a bit too much.
Mebbe I was wrong? Having fun and playing games instead of worrying all the time becomes his new reason xuper living, and in this process he learns to love and be loved.
