I am not a particularly patient or even discerning reader but I consider the time reading this book well spent. This is the second novel I’ve read of Dostoevsky in which he depicts the females less than favorably.

He got into a fight twice within novel, and both times it was to defend someone. He isn’t content with a superficial look at the world. But of course, Dostoyevsky turns this general idea into a distorted nightmare that very often borders on absurdity. I tend to applaud writers who can tell an amazing story in few pages to those in need of a tome to tell a mediocre story I read The Idiot as my quarterly classic challenge and had hoped for the experience I has this time last year while reading War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.
