The cost of healthcare in the US has skyrocketed in my lifetime, rising nearly 10 times the rate of inflation. At the same time, medical errors have become one of the leading causes of death. Increased efforts by the government to interfere in this market has only made it worse.
Patients need the freedom to negotiate costs (or at least be made aware of them) and pay providers directly. They need to be free to obtain insurance policies that are tailored to meet their wants and needs. They need to be free to choose their care and provider.
We also need to fix the education system, so that we can adequately train enough competent health care providers to meet the growing need.
